I am the founder and director of Hearts ‘n Minds Learning. I am a fully qualified and committed teacher with over 40 years’ experience and expertise in general primary, secondary, K-12 learning difficulties, K-12 special education, English to Speakers of Other Languages and adult education (Literacy and Numeracy.) My training as a teacher had been to look for the positive in each student and to encourage them to reach their full potential. However, over the years, I also learnt that it is important when looking at a student with a disability or special needs to understand how those needs impact their learning as well as impact their ability to function in the world in which they live. I understands the complexity of learning difficulties and adopts a broad approach to the full spectrum of a student’s academic and social needs. Personal Bio

I struggled as a single mother of three, parenting my daughter who had hemi-paresis, learning difficulties and social difficulties. It was many years later that the term “Asperger Syndrome” was brought to public awareness. It was such a relief to get a diagnosis and to know that her behaviours weren’t due to bad parenting! How good it would be to turn back the clock and put into practice with her all that I have since learnt about emotion regulation, social skills training, behaviour strategies and sensory difficulties.
