More Than 25 Years of Supporting Women
Founded in 1999 by advertising executive Kellie Mills and a small collective of forward-thinking local business women, HBWN was created to challenge the traditional business networking model and build something more inclusive, supportive and empowering for women.
What began as a small grassroots network has grown into a vibrant community of women from all industries and stages of business - united by connection, collaboration and a shared commitment to growth.

Today, HBWN delivers regular networking events, professional development opportunities, mentoring initiatives, sponsorships and community fundraising activities, all designed to inspire women to grow both personally and professionally.

Growing Tall Poppies
At HBWN, the “tall poppy” philosophy is at the heart of who we are.
For generations, many women have been taught to downplay their achievements, stay humble or avoid standing out. HBWN exists to challenge that mindset. We believe women should feel confident celebrating their success, backing themselves and being recognised for the value they bring to their industries, businesses and community.
We don’t believe in cutting down tall poppies - we believe in growing them.
