Business Women invited to gain insight into local economic development

Posted on 25 September 2015

Local business women are invited to attend a networking breakfast with the Hastings Business Women's Network on Thursday 27 August to gain insight into local economic issues.

Councillor Rob Turner, Chairman of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Economic Development Steering Group (EDSG), and Liesa Davies, Group Manager of Economic Development at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will be addressing the group with an update of Council's Economic Development Strategy.

This event aims to provide a greater understanding of the EDSG's role in our local economic development and illustrate the scope of projects that the Council Economic Development team are working on as they strive to increase the level of sustainable business activity in the Hastings region.

"The EDSG assists Council in the development of the overarching strategy for economic development across our local government area. It is an interactive forum that connects local government with business and industry leaders to discuss, debate, plan and progress outcomes that add economic value to the region" said Councillor Rob Turner.

"I am certainly looking forward to sharing the details of our current initiatives and answering any questions that local business women may have in relation to the EDSG and local economic development" he said.

HBWN President Karen Archer said the event will provide attendees with an insight into current economic development projects, as well as an opportunity to discuss some of the developments taking place in our area.

"There are several initiatives that council are working on at the moment that could impact local business" Ms Archer said.

"It's important for business women to stay abreast of these developments if they want to be able to take advantage of what they have to offer" she said.

The Economic Development Update networking event will be held in the Camden Haven at Oasis by the River at 6.45am on Thursday 27 August. For further information or to purchase tickets to this event visit www.hbwn.com.au.
