Charles Sturt University proudly supports Gender Equality

Charles Sturt University is delighted to partner with HBWN to support International Women’s Day.  We are committed to promoting a healthy, equitable and inclusive culture and initiatives within the University to COUNT HER IN - Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

Together we are:

  • building a workplace culture that provides dignity and respect to all;
  • encouraging the sharing of ideas and perspectives, and valuing differences;
  • taking steps to break down barriers that impede diversity and inclusion;
  • educating and equipping our leaders with the understanding and skills to be inclusive and foster belonging for all; and
  • building and attracting a workforce that reflects the communities we serve – including our students, partners and wider community.

Gender is one of the six focus areas in our Workplace Diversity Plan and one of six Employee Networks at Charles Sturt. Charles Sturt is committed to addressing the complexity of gender including gender pay equity, targets and quotas for underrepresented professions and leadership levels, removing gendered workplace discrimination, engaging, and educating people on gender equality issues and caring.

We are proud to be an employer of choice for women in regional NSW who make up 66% of our total workforce.  More than half the staff in the upper quartile salary-wise are women, and more than half of management and senior management roles are held by women, notably the University Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and several Executive Leadership Team and University Academic and Professional Senior Leaders.

Charles Sturt is committed to recruiting, developing and advancing women in the workplace through an emphasis on leadership development for women and a priority for our Academic Promotions process.
