International Women's Day 2024

Our popular International Women’s Day Breakfast is back for it's 14th year on Friday 8 March 2024. Hosted by HBWN and Member for Port Macquarie Hon. Leslie Williams MP - this premier event is a celebration for all within the community.

Enjoy a delicious canape style breakfast in Jimmy’s Lounge at The Westport Club while you catch up with your friends and colleagues as the sun rises over the river. Then be seated in the Hastings room ready to be empowered by our incredible keynote speaker.

The 2024 theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Count Her In’ and promotes the acceleration of gender equality through economic empowerment.

All proceeds will go to Liberty Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Services and will directly support local women and children experiencing violence and abuse. If you can’t make it to the event but would like to donate visit https://international-womens-day-2024.raisely.com/

Keynote Speaker: Jo Powell

“Once a Matilda, always a Matilda”

Born and raised in Grafton NSW, Jo Powell wore the Green and Gold for the Matildas between 1996 and 2000 in an era when women’s football was finding its way as an international sport.

Making international history in 2023, the Matildas became the first women’s football team in the world to receive the same pay as their male counterparts.

Celebrating gender equality through economic empowerment, Jo will join us on March 8 to share her personal journey from school hockey, cricket, and football player to representing Australia as a Matilda.

Following careers as a police officer, youth worker, personal trainer and office administrator, Jo is now a successful business owner applying the same tenacity and determination she had for football to all aspects of her life.
